Due to work commitments, I practically lost the connection to the outside world. The previous day’s hard work made me sleep like a baby after a long time.
The morning was peaceful. The morning sunlight felt soothing. After that I read the newspaper and it has messed up my remaining day. Brussels was bombed by extremists. Felt as if the history repeated itself.
Indians are celebrating Holi -the festival of Colors on 23rd and 24th. The paradox is that while one part of the world is getting colored with festivity, the other part is bleeding with death, gore and horror.
I have grown beyond the point where I could ask questions like Why are we doing this…What is wrong with the people… To be honest, I have become numb to all of this. The news channels will do that work. The sad part is that some of them will stereotype Muslims as terrorists. The deeds of the few would mean hard times for the 7 percent of the populace of Belgium comprising of followers of Islam.
What is more important to see is how the media is going to portray this whole scenario. Are they going to spare the usual office goer Islam followers with its usual lashing or will they take the usual path of sensationalizing the whole issue.
It is always easy to blame them and make their life miserable in an otherwise calm nation. The point is that who all are willing to drill down and discover the real facts and support them in this time of turmoil where even their dear ones are affected for sure.
Hopefully the powerful media is able to choose the right side and defend the non-violent, peace loving mere mortals who believe in their Allah just like a Christian believes in Christ and a Jew in Jehovah.
As a human, all I would do is to pray for the well being of all the people afflicted with the this tragedy. Meanwhile, I would prefer to take the right side-The side of the peace loving.
